Rob Walton of Walmart joins Risky Business Project’s Risk Committee

Risky Business Project is pleased to announce that Rob Walton, retired chairman of Walmart, has joined our Risk Committee.

The Risk Committee  provides the project with invaluable insight and understanding of the American economy. Current members include leading figures from the worlds of business, politics, and finance. Rob Walton will provide expertise on managing the supply chains of a big box retailer with international operations.

Under Rob Walton’s leadership, Walmart has contracted over 2 billion kWh of renewable energy worldwide, helping to reduce the energy intensity and the greenhouse gas emissions of its operations. Walmart has also been working with its international suppliers to increase their reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and other sustainability indicators, in an effort to improve climate resilience among its entire supply chain.

Rob Walton said: “When you’re dealing with international supply chains, risk management becomes critically important. It’s in every company’s best interest to minimize such risks- be they from climate change or from any other factor. Investing in clean energy solutions and bring them to scale is one way to do so. I look forward to working with the Risky Business Project to help companies better understand where the opportunities lie.”

We are excited that Mr. Walton has chosen to join our Risk Committee and look forward to the important work we will do together.
